Tonia is in her 2nd year as a member of Crash Conditioning. She started in the fall of 2018 as a part-time coach. In the fall of 2019, she took on a Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach role. At the same time, she also took on the part of client relations. In her time at Crash, Tonia has worked with many local hockey associations, she has also worked with Hockey Alberta on several occasions. She was also lucky enough to run off ice training with Hockey Canada and IIHF for The Global Girl’s Game.
Tonia started coaching in 2016 in a group fitness setting, around the same time she got into Olympic weightlifting and realized that she had a passion for sports performance. Tonia started coaching at Can Pro Training Centre in the summer of 2017. At Can Pro, she worked with many athletes from minor hockey to Junior. Once she finishes her degree at Mount Royal, she plans on obtaining her CSCS qualifications and applying to the University of Alberta to get her masters in Physical Therapy. Tonia has a passion for not only rehabilitation but integrating more injury prevention into sports performance to help young athletes reach their potential.
Tonia brings a varied sports background to Crash from rugby and softball to weightlifting. As an actively competitive athlete herself, she knows the demands of competitive sport. She has a love for helping athletes improve their performance and achieve their goals at the highest level.
